Ebola: Nigeria to begin temperature screening of inbound passengers
Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has commenced temperature screening of passengers arriving from high risk countries with Ebola outbreak. According to the NCAA spokesman, Sam Adurogboye, the passengers’ temperature will be checked on arrival, at all major Nigerian airports, with a hand held device. If any abnormal temperature reading is identified, such individual will be subjected to a compulsory blood test.
In furtherance of the ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of the virus in Nigeria, a West African focused airline, Asky airline, has been suspended from operating in the country. Nigeria’s largest airline, Arik air has also temporarily suspended all flights to and from Sierra Leone and Liberia. Both countries, in addition to Guinea, have recorded the highest incidence of the disease.
