Emefiele resumes as CBN Governor
The new Governor of Nigeria’s central bank, Godwin Emefiele, assumed office today. This followed the expiration of the tenure of Lamido Sanusi on May 31. Nigeria’s president, Goodluck Jonathan, had in February forwarded Emeifele’s name to the Senate for confirmation.
Mr Emefiele is a banker of 26 years’ experience and has been the Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc, since 2010. He was a pioneer staff of the Bank and was instrumental in developing Zenith Bank into a world-class institution. He holds a BSc and an MBA in Finance from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and is an alumnus of Stanford University, Harvard and Wharton Graduate Schools of Business.
