The Lagos State University (LASU) branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite strike.
The Union’s reason for the industrial action, announced today is because of: high school fees charged students by the institution, stagnation of the career development of qualified staff, premature retirement of members of the professional staff and the dirty campus environment.

The union had given the state government several notices, the first being a 21-day notice on 24 March, followed by another 14-day ultimatum effective April 15. Yet another notice was given on the 1st of May.
