LASU: Students take protest to Fashola
Students of the Lagos State University (LASU), Thursday, laid siege on the Lagos State government house. The students were protesting the increase in their tuition fees, by the state government, from N25, 000 to N350, 000. The President of the University’s Student Union, Mr Nurudeen Yusuf, insisted that the government should reduce the ‘exorbitant’ fee to 46, 500 Naira. They also demanded the release of their colleagues who were arrested by the State’s Police command.
On Wednesday, some students of the institution were arrested by the Lagos State Police on account of disruption of public peace. The arrested students include: Olamide Bolarinwa, 23; Oludare Olayinka, 18; Victoria Oni, 18; Timilehin Fatukasi, 19; Babatunde Bolarinwa, 24; Taiwo Ajayi, 24; Olatimihan Taiwo, 20, and Segun Akani, 27.
